The Challenge
English, Welsh & Sottish Railways is a brand with a strong heritage, and one that everyone over a certain age remembers, but it had somehow become dusty and irrelevant, especially in the growing European market. Our brief was to refresh EWS to create an attractive more appealing image, without alienating other consumers.
Our Solution
Maintaining respect for the brand’s past was incredibly important. We shortened the overly-long name to it’s initials, EWS. By refining the ‘Big Beastie’ logo (as it had become affectionately named), we were able to transform the company from it’s old fuddy duddy background and inject a much more up-to-date, approachable image, relevant to a newer European generation.
